High availability and continuity of service

VMware HA provides high availability to virtual machines and hosts by actively pooling and monitoring both. In case of host failure, VMware HA migrates virtual machines to hosts with capacity. When new virtual machines are added to a VMware HA cluster, VMware HA checks if sufficient capacity is available to power the virtual machine on a different host in case of host failure.

When you first power up a virtual machine in the cluster, DRS maintains a proper load balancing by placing the virtual machine on a suitable host.
